Description

Setting up and maintaining your own server requires specialised expertise, but by ordering this service you outsource them to a fully experienced, Finnish provider.

This product includes server setup, maintenance, and support for one year.

Features of the service provided

The server is pre-optimised for your next deployment (and can also be customised as required):

  • PHP versions ready for use 8.0-8.4
    • Deployment and configuration optimization for newer versions is included in the price of the service
  • Nginx and MariaDB, settings optimised specifically for WordPress and security
  • All emails from the server (including those from websites) go through Mailgun, sent to the address under the domain of your choice
    • The technology is Postfix SMTP relay
    • Can also be made to go through e.g. your AWS account, using Amazon SES (change included in price)
  • UFW and Fail2Ban with appropriate settings
    • In addition, Hetzner’s own firewall in between
  • WP-CLI enabled on all sites
  • Let’s Encrypt certificates and automatic renewal
  • Easy and readable way to monitor necessary logs (PHP, Nginx, MySQL/MariaDB, outgoing emails)
    • Also available with near real-time login view for reading via browser
  • Create new WordPress sites via the command line, easily and quickly without any limitations
    • Several dozen sites can be running on the server at the same time, as long as traffic is low
      • If performance limits are reached, server optimisation to meet your needs is included in the price and if that’s not enough, you can upgrade to a better server at a reasonable cost
  • The environment is fast and very well suited for development work, as an alternative to local development
  • SSH / SFTP credentials for the desired number of users, without restrictions
  • Access to the server can also be more strictly limited, e.g. by IP restrictions
  • Automatic backups for 7 days are included (Hetzner takes 1 backup per day, from the whole server)
    • Backups of the most critical data can be automated to Object Storage, e.g. several times a day, which is also easier and faster to restore
  • Installation and automatic renewal of Let’s Encrypt certificates is part of the service (also wildcard type)
  • The price includes one so-called normal-priced domain, with *-redirection to the related sites
    • For example, if you choose the domain mydomain.dev, the sites to be set up on the server can be
      • site.mydomain.dev
      • another.mydomain.dev
      • three-site.mydomain.dev
      • etc.
    • Other domains that you have acquired through other means can also be redirected to the server
  • The server is set up under a Tammersoft Hetzner account, but if you later want to transfer the server to your own account, this is possible and the transfer itself is included in the price of the service

The service includes the work involved in setting up and deploying the server, the cost of the Hetzner platform and the work involved in maintaining the server, such as regular Ubuntu updates.

Contact during the active service

You will get an email address and a Slack connection for contacting regarding the service. The service is provided by Tammersoft Oy (Anssi Laitila). No other persons or entities are involved in the operation, except Hetzner.

Contacting and technical support will not be billed separately, unless it is additional work agreed in advance.

Server details

The default Hetzner Arm64-based server (CAX31) used in the service to be provided includes the following:

  • 240GB disk space
    • CAX31 server’s own 160GB SSD
    • Separate 80 GB Volume pre-installed for use (+ easily expandable)
    • Plus connection to Hetzner’s Amazon S3 compatible Object Storage
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 8 VCPUs
  • 20 TB of traffic

Limitations related to the service to be delivered

  • Customer support for sites on the server, provided directly to end-users, is not included (e.g. your customer’s site in the content entry phase, direct support for the customer is not provided by us).
  • The environment is designed primarily for development and demo use, rather than production use (such as live sites)
    • However, there is no technical limitation to the use of the sites or the server, but you should use your own judgement as needed
  • Hetzner has its own terms and conditions, which are beyond our control and which should be taken into account
